The mission of BASF Venture Capital is to link the strategic and operational interests of BASF Group with innovative technologies of emerging businesses.

The focus of each investment is on innovative technologies and products which are chemistry-related, including the novel materials sector, new developments in bio- and nano-technology and cleantech. However, other areas within the more established technological platforms of BASF Group are also of interest to us.

We pro-actively support each of our start-up companies, helping them to grow in their industry sector. As well as advice on strategic decisions, our access to the internal and external resources of BASF Group as a whole plays an important role. This helps achieve increased visibility in the marketplace and an accelerated "time-to-market".

Where second-round financing is necessary, our active support is complemented by our connections and partnerships with industry-leading companies and venture capital funds.

We expect returns from our investments to be appropriate to their level of risk. We aim to ensure this up-front, in the initial stages of the investment through a carefully balanced investment process.

Our investment team is composed of investment managers with extensive industry expertise in both technological and financial fields.
